VIDEO NATION SHORTS
PRIX EUROPA IRIS INTERCULTURAL TELEVISION PROGRAMME OF THE YEAR 1997 TV -NON-FICTION
Broadcast by: BBC, Great Britain
Production: Chris Mohr en Mandy Rose
'Video Nation Shorts' trains people to handle a camcorder and asks them to record scenes from their own daily lives. Without becoming too didactic in style, unknown citizens are brought to a broad TV audience. 'Video Nation' creates understanding for all sorts of people who could be your neighbours, but who mostly stay unknown strangers. The "ordinary people" in 'Video Nation' are a cross-section of multicultural English society. The contributions of the participants result in a modern chronicle of British society.
